Past Events

So you have an idea of what we do when we get together, here is a list of previous SUB gatherings.

Title: Flowing Through God's Veins
When: August 2017
Run by: Everyone
Location: Greenbelt, Kettering
Theme: Refreshing Claire's 2014 blood service, SUB brought this to Greenbelt as a series of 4 stations walked in carousel by 4 groups. The stations represented body parts - the venue became a body! In the head, we looked at blood used in art; in the lungs, we meditated on the blood coursing through our body; in the arm, we learned about different blood types and the spiritual implications that some cultures place on that; in the guts, we heard about blood in food and monsters driven by blood; we concluded with the heart and blood as covenant

Title: God In The Steam
When: October 2014
Run by: Claire & Matt
Location: Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester
Theme: Not strictly a full SUB gathering, but I thought it worth adding to this list. Claire & I presented the subject of Steampunk Spirituality as part of a panel looking at a wide range of Steampunk facets. This was part of both the Manchester Gothic Festival and Science Festival

Title: The Quest
When: August 2014
Run by: Everyone
Location: Greenbelt, Kettering
Theme: Reflecting Greenbelt's theme of 'Travelling Light', this service took inspiration from Pilgrim's Progress, fairy tales and 80s children's TV series Knightmare. It was a half hour walking service taking participants through a series of challenges and exploring the idea of picking up, putting down and sharing each others burdens

Title: Blood
When: February 2014
Run by: Claire
Location: Sacred Trinity, Manchester
Theme: Claire took us through the church via various interactive stations that were labelled as body parts - the church became a body!
